JOIN OTHERS IN GRADUATE COMMUNICATION SUPPORT
The CGC offers a variety of ways to connect and exchange ideas and best practices with other graduate communication support experts on a daily, weekly, monthly, and annual basis. From the listserv (open to members and non-members alike) on which you can send and receive emails on the fly to monthly online gathering such as CGC Chats, Mentoring Mondays, and Communities of Practice, and from weekly writing groups to our annual Summer Instititue, we provide numerous platforms where you can get answers to your questions, bounce ideas off others, and offer your own expertise. We’ve even set up a way to arrange ad-hoc gatherings at non-CGC conferences, and we welcome ideas for new forums. See below to get involved!

Ways to connect in the CGC
Summer Institute
As the CGC’s flagship event, the annual Summer Institute (currently alternating between in-person and virtual) provides the opportunity for colleagues to gather, connect, and collaborate across graduate communication programs and studies. With participants sharing high-impact practices, new and in-progress research, and empowering camaraderie, the SI has become essential for sustaining such conversations in the ever-changing field of graduate communication. CGC Listserv
Free and open to members and non-members alike, the CGC listserv provides a forum for questions and discussions about pedagogy and resources. Threads can be accessed on email and on the groups.io site, and messages can be received in real-time or in daily or weekly digests.
CGC Chats
CGC Co-chair Dr. Linda Macri leads this monthly opportunity to gather as a group to discuss topics of relevance to graduate communication specialists. All are welcome! See the schedule, register to attend, or suggest a topic.
Mentoring Mondays
Have a question you can’t quite answer or want to just bounce ideas off some experienced colleagues? Jane Freeman, Nathan Lindberg, Melissa Myers, and Angelo Pitillo are here to help! Held one Monday per month during the academic year.
CoP: Teaching Oral Skills
This collaboration brings together members dedicated to improving the oral communication skills of multilingual graduate students. We share best practices, innovative teaching techniques, and key resources.
Weekly Writing Groups
Join fellow graduate communication specialists weekly to move your writing projects forward. We typically introduce ourselves, set our goals for the hour, write, and then briefly check in on progress. All are welcome!

Find a Writing Buddy
Join colleagues dedicated to improving the oral communication skills of multilingual graduate students through the sharing of best practices, innovative teaching techniques, and key resources. Led by Dr. Jane Freeman, Melissa Myers, and Nathan Lindberg.
