Lodging
Summer Institute participants have two options for lodging: the conference hotel and a dorm option.
Conference hotel
The conference hotel is the Pittsburgh Marriott City Center, a block from Duquesne. The Marriott conference rate is $125/night plus tax. You may make your reservation directly with Pittsburgh Marriott Reservations by phone or by using the reservation link. To reserve by phone, call 1-877-645-3553 or 412-471-4000, and tell the booking agent the room is for the event “Consortium on Graduate Communication Summer Institute.” To secure the conference rate through an online booking, use the hotel’s reservation link: Book your group rate for Consortium on Graduate Communication Summer Institute
To secure the hotel conference rate, book your room by May 27, 2020.

If you are sharing a room, you will need to provide the name for the second person, but no further information for that person. Only the person filling out the form will give contact information; that is the person who will receive communications about the reservation.
Once you reserve a room, you will be directed to a payment link. Please provide payment within 48 hours of making the reservation.
Cancellation policy: Duquesne requires 3 days advance notice of your stay to cancel the reservation and return your payment.

Getting to Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh is served by Pittsburgh International Airport and Amtrak.
Getting from the airport to Duquesne University
The 28X public bus will bring you to The Blvd of the Allies Footbridge (Duquesne). The cost is $2.75 (exact change is needed, unless you purchase a ConnectCard); it takes approximately 40 minutes from the airport to Duquesne. Please note: You will be responsible for handling your own baggage both on and off the vehicle. The bus lets you off on a busy road spanned by a footbridge with 30 – 40 steps up then down as you cross the road to reach Duquesne’s campus. If you have a lot of baggage, you may prefer another transportation option.
Uber & Lyft: Once you have arrived at the airport, follow signs to the baggage claim area and exit using Door 4. You will see both Uber and Lyft loading zones. You can request a ride to campus through the Uber or Lyft smartphone apps, and your driver will meet you at the designated loading zone. The cost for these services will be approximately $30-$50.
Yellow Cab & Taxi: Yellow Cab taxis can be hired from outside of the baggage claim area. Exit the building near the elevators through the door that says “Shuttles/Taxis.” You will see a line of yellow cabs to your left. If there are no cabs, there will be a telephone on a nearby pole that will summon a taxi cab (they are usually parked just around the corner). The cost for a ride to campus is approximately $50-60 and it will take about 30 minutes. (It may take considerably longer between the rush hours of 7:00 am – 9:00 am and 4pm – 7pm.) You can also share a cab with a few colleagues if you are traveling together.
Sedan Service Meet and Greet: The cost of the ExecuCar service is approximately $55 plus tip; no extra charges if your flight is delayed. A sedan car can be shared by up to 3 people. A driver will meet you at the baggage claim. Reserve this service ahead of time on their website: http://www.execucar.com/home.aspx
